Final Farewell

A guest post from Nick Merriman, on his last day as Director of Manchester Museum

“My only slight regret about leaving Manchester Museum after 12 years (to go to London to be CEO of the Horniman Museum & Gardens) is that I won’t be around to see through the completion of the Courtyard project. However, the project is in great shape, and I am sure that my successor as Director, Esme Ward, will do a marvellous job of seeing it through to opening.

It’s been a wonderful experience to work with colleagues in and outside the Museum (including our partners the British Museum), with University Estates, with architects Purcell and designers RAA to develop the scheme. For me, it’s been a particular pleasure to get to know members of the South Asian community who have been so supportive over the realisation of the South Asia Gallery.

I wish the project the very best of luck, and look forward to coming to the re-opening in late 2020”

We all wish Nick the best of luck at the Horniman, and look forward to working with Esme Ward as she takes over from Nick, from next month.
